Building the Power Grid of the Future

Through its Distributed Power business, Crown and its developer partners develop on-site power generation solutions that provide electricity under long-term contracts to mid- to large-scale users such as industrial and commercial businesses, recreational facilities, and condominiums.

Our distributed power solutions provide these companies with a compelling alternative to the public utility grid: reliable, uninterrupted power and significant cost savings.

READ THEIR STORY

MIDSTREAM GAS PLANT: RAM RIVER POWER PROJECT

Project Type:  Gas to Power
Location: Central Alberta
Size: 7.5 MW

The Ram River Power Project is a modular built facility that takes natural gas from the sales stream of a 150 mmscf/d natural gas processing facility to produce power for the onsite gas plant operations.  Once fully commissioned during the summer of 2020, this project is expected to deliver reliable power at significant cost savings to the host site.

CUSTOM STRUCTURE MANUFACTURER

Project Type:  Combined Heat and Power
Location: Alberta
Size: 130 kW

The Project provides an on-site energy solution at the company’s showcase facility in Aldersyde, Alberta.  A gas-fired CHP, running in parallel with the grid, provides both cost savings and added resiliency.  In addition, the waste heat is recaptured for space heating and the domestic hot water system, to increase the overall energy efficiency.

TIER 1 AUTO PARTS MANUFACTURER

Project Type:  Peak Shaving
Location: Ontario
Size: 3.0 MW

The Project will enable the customer to participate in Ontario’s Industrial Conservation Initiative.  By reducing demand during peak periods, the host site will both reduce their overall power costs and help defer the need for the province to make investments in new electricity infrastructure.  Additionally, the host site will have the back up generation in place to continue operations during grid outages.

HIGH-RISE CONDOMINIUM

Project Type:  Combined Heat and Power
Location: Ontario
Size: 150 kW

The Project provides roof-top installed, gas-fired CHP, which runs in parallel with the grid.  The system is sized to provide power to all of the common areas of the building, and redistribute the waste heat into the building’s the domestic hot water system.  In addition to the immediate savings, relative to the grid price, the condo board is swapping it’s exposure to long-term power prices, in favor of CPI.
